Privacy policy

When you check a page

For each check we store:

• the URL you entered and the URL it redirected to
• the time of the check
• the scores, the result of each check and the short excerpts from the page that each result is based on
• technical details such as the ruleset version and whether a headless browser was used

We do not store a copy of the full page, and we do not record who started the check. The report gets a random link. Anyone who has the link can open it, so treat it like any other shareable link. Reports are marked so search engines do not index them.

How long we keep it

• Reports are kept until they are removed. There is no automatic expiry.
• The link between a URL and its latest report is kept for 24 hours, so repeat checks reuse the result.
• Our processing system keeps each check's working data (the report plus the site's robots.txt, sitemap and llms.txt) for 30 days after the check.
• Database backups are kept for 30 days.

Removing a report

Email contact@georate.me with the report link. We delete the report, and its link stops working. Copies in processing data and backups expire within 30 days after that. You don't have to prove that you own the site, but tell us if the report is about you.

When you visit the site

• Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies or identify you. It does not run on report pages.
• Bot check. Starting a check uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. Turnstile sends information about your browser and your IP address to Cloudflare and may store a cookie or similar data for that purpose only.
• Rate limit. Your IP address is used to limit how many checks can be started per minute. The counter is not stored with the report.
• Server logs. Our hosting keeps request logs, which can include your IP address and browser, for up to 7 days to find errors and abuse.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share data with advertisers.

When you email us

We keep your message and address to answer you and handle your request, and delete them when they are no longer needed.

Who processes the data

Georate runs on Cloudflare, which hosts the site and database, runs the checks, and provides analytics, Turnstile and email forwarding. Cloudflare processes this data on our behalf under its own privacy policy and may do so outside your country.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, to object to its use, and to complain to a data protection authority. To use these rights, email contact@georate.me.

Changes

If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. See also the terms of use.
